Cathy Mabius is known for her oil paintings of landscapes and the natural world that are executed in a style that has been described as a blend of impressionism and painterly realism. For more than twenty years, the artist has created paintings of landscapes from diverse regions allowing viewers to experience not only the scene itself, but also the sense of atmosphere, light and what the artist describes as the “dynamic tranquility” of being in natural places. Cathy has been juried into numerous national and international exhibitions across the country as well as having solo shows at galleries and universities. She has also been juried into membership with national organizations such as The Oil Painters of America,  Landscape Artists International as an associate member and as a signature member of the International Society of Acrylic Painters. She is also a member of the American Impressionist Society and the Rt 15 Byway of the Arts as an Artist and an Arts Destination in Central Pennsylvania.

Believing it is crucial to capturing the mood, light and color in her paintings, Cathy paints outdoors on location as much as possible. These studies are then the basis for larger, more extensive works back in her studio.
